Hello keyboard googler, my name is Susan and I am in my fifties working full time (4 Years Plus Years) professionally accomplished (whatever the hell that means) with a fabulous husband and wonderful children living life on the other side of the wine glass. I had tried Dry January, Dry November, Dry Monday, Dry Tuesday, not on a school night, only drinking on high days and holidays, only days beginning with 'S' but never quite cracked this moderation lark. I enrolled in 'The Sober School' and the rest is history. No road crash, no rock bottom, no skid row yet I struggled. I now find myself part of a modern progressive recovery movement that works to redefine our attitude to drinking and to smash the myths surrounding alcohol. I founded this platform in February 2019. My date of freedom is : 6th January 2019
Having enrolled in an online class to redefine my relationship with alcohol, I was lucky enough to find pretty amazing honest like-minded women who shared their truth fearlessly. Together we spent 6 weeks tackling the myths and the science in a bid to crack this daily genuflection at the altar of wine. I created Sassy Sober Sisters in February 2019 to act as a support system for women as they navigate early sobriety. I created Whatsapp groups, daily emails and ZOOM calls to connect and found having a community gave us support and friendship. We showed up in our lives, taking ownership, claiming our power back no longer buying into the bullshit of wine=reward . And no, we don't need wine to parent!! We now live happier fuller lives enjoying life on other side of the wine glass. .
